Unfortunately we missed our last week together due to the snow storm.  We had a great group and are excited to meet our new students next week!

Dragon Water recipe
The afternoon session of our Mission Hill program has been moving along.  With a nice holiday break in between, we've been progressing in our skill at the Plant Part game and Helicopter.

Everyone enjoyed doing some testing, and someone even held his horse stance for over three minutes!

Dragon water has been delicious, and everyone has been working hard, playing fair, and having fun!

tasting and drawing the wheatgrass
With the weather only getting colder and the conditions worse outside, we were moved from our usual space to make room for some other groups.  While in an open space now, we actually like the new one better!  There is definitely more natural light, which we at the Green Dragons love.  It was another strong week for this group as we worked hard on our martial skills: jumping, punching, and kicking.  We learned some blocks today too.  Everyone did a great job drawing pictures of the wheatgrass both in the pot and an individual strand - the stem, seed, and root attached together.  Rounding the session out were the plant part game and helicopter.  The focus this week was on point!

leading the plant part game
We got a whole new group of students today, and one of them was a familiar face from Session 1, Sophia!  We set a strong tone from the start and everyone was very engaged in the martial arts.  After learning some basic punches and kicks and how the power comes from our root stance, we worked on some of it in the plant part game.  It was a big hit, and we had some great leaders!  Next was our wheatgrass lesson.  Each group came up with a team name - my favorite was the Golden Dragons - and then filled them with soil and wheatgrass seeds.  We'll see their growth next week.  After we cleaned up, everyone learned the basics of the helicopter game, especially how much focus it takes, and we ended with our first game of helicopter.  It looks like it's going to be another fun session at Mission Hill!
