Finger tips only!
The themes of the day were hand strength and the Garden Form.  After a strong warm up where we worked on building hand strength through knuckle and finger tip push ups, we split into two groups.  While one group was testing their hand strength by breaking boards, the other worked hard on the Garden Form.  We came together at the end and everyone did all nine moves the Garden Form together.  It looks really good, but we can always challenge ourselves to get lower, smoother, and crisper!  Next, we wrote out all nine moves on a sheet of paper to deepen our understanding of it.  We also introduced the medicine ball today.  It was heavy, but we learned how our root can even help us push with our arms.  Another fun game of Helicopter and we were saying goodbye.  Only two weeks left!

Welcome to the second year of Green Dragons at Pierce!  We have some old hands already as some of our students were with us last year.  We've done some exciting things so far, including learning different martial arts combinations to prepare for the Garden Form, planting and growing wheatgrass, and making several recipes such as our Dragon Water and Self-Defense Smoothie.  We're all learning the importance of ROOTS.  We can see the roots in the plants we grow and how strong they are, and we've been working on making our own root stance stronger than ever.  It's exciting to be back at Pierce and the program is going strong!
